FRC labels Dumbo as gay, uses Disney elephant to mock Log Cabin Republicans

by Jeremy Hooper

This is the graphic the Family Research Council's Vice President for Government Affairs, Tom McClusky, has chosen to use for his latest blog post denouncing both the gay Log Cabin Republican group and a theoretically inclusive GOP itself:

Don't get me wrong -- I'd gladly accept the adorable Dumbo into our gay ranks. But something tells me that benign charm is not the FRC's goal. Something like, oh, I don't know -- the all-out war on LGBT people that this organization defines as a "values vote"!

Then again, judging by the fact that this same group has quite literally issued brochures where same-sex marriages are likened to loving bonds between a man and his horse (complete with horse picture), perhaps we should just be glad that Dumbo is alone in this graphic.

***UPDATE: Tellingly, FRC has altered the tag so that a mouse hover now simply displays the word "elephant." However, the footer bar shows that the image is still titled "elephant-gay.png":
