Don't be 'slave of feelings', says man who wants you bound to his politically-motivated junk science
Because few things are more charming than listening to a hetero-identified man who benignly acts on his attractions proceed to school gay people on why their own orientations deserve to be overthought in a way that doesn't mesh with the science on the subject, I give you Family Research Council president Tony Perkins:

Uh huh, right. And some of us tried to give in to opposite-sex attractions, no matter how unwanted they were. It didn't work. Can you say that you've out your sexuality to this sort of test, Tony? Because I can.
It is profoundly cruel for these social conservatives to tell countless individuals that they are to be either celibate, struggling, untruthful, or else go through life in some "broken" state. Cruel, but unfortunately quite common in "culture war" conservatism.
