Wherein back-to-back YouTube clips destroy NOM's ridic. 'Anti-Defamation' lies
If one does a YouTube search for Frank Turek, sorted by date of upload, two videos come back positioned one on top of the other:
The first is that responsibility-shirking launch video that I showed you last week, where anti-LGBT lecturer Frank Turek claims that he lost a consultant gig simply because he has a "traditional marriage viewpoint." If you haven't already seen the National Organization for Marriage's (83% disliked) clip, you can watch that here.
But as for the second video, uploaded by our pro-equality friends at On Top Magazine? Well here, listen to that one for yourself:
(*UPDATE: The clip was actually first unearthed by Right Wing Watch. Go see their full Turek archive here)
Does that sound like the simple expression of the "traditional marriage viewpoint" to you? No, of course it doesn't. Or at least shouldn't. That's because it, what with its comparisons to animals who eat their young and generalized positioning of homosexuality as a "destructive behavior" that "we ought not act on," is a pointed, some might even say vicious attack against LGB individuals themselves! This clip (from Janet Parshall's radio show) isn't about NOM's stated fight of protecting marriage: It's about stripping homosexuality and/or bisexuality out of the scientifically understood span of sexual orientation. If there's any "defamation" going on, it's coming from Mr. Turek and directed at the millions of human beings who live in love in a way with which he personally disagrees!
And yet NOM is using this guy as the poster big for its big, new, Maggie-headed Anti-Defamation Alliance? PUH-LEEZE! That's like punching someone in the gut then blaming him or her for making your hand hurt. Or better yet: Like likening someone's love to the animalistic consumption of children and then claiming you hold the moral high ground!
