NOM: Iowa's future dependent on changing its benign, peaceful present
To no one's surprise, the National organization For Marriage has announced support for the anti-marriage candidate in Iowa's special race to fill a vacant seat (18th District) in the Iowa state Senate. Here's the mailer, produced alongside the Family Leader:
This flyer is actually tame, by NOM's recent standards. Most offensive line: Calling the unretained Supreme Court Justices "disgraced." It's one thing for groups like NOM and the Family Leader to threaten the very nature of our nation's independent judiciary by ousting judges on the basis of one decision with which these organizations simply do not agree, but it's quite another to act as if that Pyrrhic victory invalidates the irrationally ousted judges' training, credentials, and reputations. But I digress.
In addition to the flyer, NOM has also launched an Independent Expenditure campaign in support of Golding/in opposition to Mathis. Because why wouldn't this K Street special interest group stick both its nose and wallet into this one local race? After all, if they don't elect Golding, all of Iowa's corn will instantly rot and God will stop pumping lifeblood to the entire American Heartland. Or something like that.
*REMINDER: The Family Leader is the group that still, to this day, hosts web information painting gays as a threat on par with or exceeding second hand smoking.
