Maggie Gallagher: Gays 'want to rip Genesis out of our Bibles'

by Jeremy Hooper

6A00D8341C503453Ef014E8Bdc139F970DI've mentioned it in interviews, on panels, in speeches, in meetings, in private conversations, and in a number of other places. The one thing that most every single close "culture war" watcher agrees on -- including even some on her "side," interestingly enough -- is that Maggie Gallagher speaks one way when she's talking on mainstream television, at a public university, or before Congress, and a completely different way when speaking to Christian media, at religious schools, or in channels where heated religious animus befits her cause.

Here now, an example from the latter column:

"It's becoming increasingly clear that the gay rights movement, the gay marriage movement, really does believe you're like a racist if you think marriage is the union of husband and wife," explained Maggie Gallagher, co-founder of the National Organization for Marriage. "They want to rip Genesis out of our Bibles."

This careless quip plays right into the game I talked about this morning. NOM and its heads are actively working to make people dislike us. Not just dislike our rights, but US, as people supposedly out to ruin Christians' lives.

We want to rip Genesis out of Bible? No. But one thing is increasingly clear: NOM is quite content ripping us out of America's vibrant fabric.
