Exclusive: Maryland Marriage Alliance comes out for transgender children (*or at least the clipart version thereof)

by Jeremy Hooper

Even though I stand firmly against their campaign to stop civil marriage equality in the Old Line State, I'm thrilled to see Maryland For Marriage supporting transgender children.

Why do I say they are? Oh. Well, because just like Minnesota For Marriage before them, the MD social conservatives have taken a source graphic of two different families, via istockphoto...

…then borrowed a kid from the second set of parents…

…in order to make the first family an intact family of four. Except they didn't just borrow and blend. No, no -- they actually took the one child and flipped the outline of what appears to be a young boy…

…and then added a ponytail to the flipped image, seemingly to transition a him into a her:

They then took this new kid and new family, lengthened the mom's skirt -- for modesty, of course -- and crafted their new logo:

And there you have it: One blended family with a kid whose parents apparently supported his gender expression/transition. Which you know, is actually refreshing. Sincerely. I'm more than glad to see the Maryland marriage opposition getting T-inclusive with their clip art, even if they continue to shun the LGB!

Though I do have to wonder: Why are they trying to destroy this second couple's family portrait? What, did the second couple express support for the Equal Protection Clause or something?
