Washington, tired of East Coast having all the fun, passes marriage bill
The Washington state House of Representatives has joined the state Senate, passing a marriage equality bill by a 55-43 vote.
The bill now goes to Gov. Gregoire, who couldn't be a bigger champion of the bill. But then the self-appointed values crowd will have until the first week of June to collect signatures for the purpose of again putting minority rights to a public vote, a move that, if successful (from their view), would also halt marriages until after the November referendum. Yuck balls.
But let's not think about that nasty, divisive possibility for now. Tonight, let's toast your awesome win, Evergreen State.
