Reminder that FRC is, at heart, a pro-'ex-gay' organization
At the conclusion of yesterday's 'Washington Update" column, right after faulting the Democrats for supporting marriage equality and accusing transgender men and women of being "men who pretend to be women and women who pretend to be men," the Family Research Council reminded us of how entreated they are with the organized "ex-gay" movement. And actually not even just the organized "ex-gay" movement, but PFOX, one of that movement's fringier groups:
[FRC]
It's chilling that a public school system would stand against a politically-motivated flux state that supposedly exists in between all scientifically-recognized sexual orientations? The schools are going to far when they stand against an organization whose only base of support comes from the tiny stable of groups (NARTH, ACPEDS) that the far-right has created in order to present the illusion of backing? It's hopeful to tell LGBT students that they are broken and therefore need to "overcome" their "struggles"?
Okay, FRC: I will gladly have this conversation. Just surprised that you all want to have it, since you're forfeiting both your "indoctrination" and "we just want to protect marriage" claims in one fell swoop.
