FRC promoting Ron 'gays worse than maggots' Baity's rally #Amendment1 #4marriagenc
On several occasions I've shared with you the unbelievably extreme rhetoric of Raleigh, NC, pastor Ron Baity. For example, there's the clip where Baity implies that gays are worse than maggots:
There's also the one where he likens gays to murderers:
There are many, many more clips here. Some of them are even worse than above. And those are only the ones I've managed to catch.
Well on Friday, this same Ron Baity will be hosting a rally in Raleigh in support of the Vote For Marriage NC campaign. And who is proudly pushing Mr. Baity's work? Well, the Family Research Council, natch:
North Carolina is the only southern state that does not have a constitutional amendment that protects marriage as the Bible defines it: only between one man and one woman. We are praying that will change soon. As you know, the Marriage Amendment is on the May 8 ballot.
These last days before the vote are critical. Consequently, we encourage all Christians from across the state to rally in Raleigh on April 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM. The Marriage Rally will be held at Halifax Mall located directly behind the Legislative Building.
Dr. Ron Baity, Pastor of Berean Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and President of Return America is leading the rally. For more information or updates, visit www.returnamerica.org. For a printable poster to help announce the event to your church, click here. For directions, click here.
In previous Return America Marriage Rallies, thousands have traveled to Raleigh and expressed their support for Biblical Marriage. This will be the most important Marriage Rally yet since we are on the verge of finally protecting marriage for our children and grandchildren in the North Carolina State Constitution.
So we are asking pastors to bring their congregations and fill Halifax Mall. Let's finish strong. Let's stand for marriage!
Watchmen On The Wall [FRC]
It's no great surprise that FRC is enamored with the extreme Baity. Tony Perkins spoke at Baity's rally in May 2011 in support of what was then a legislative effort. Baity's also appeared in FRC promotional videos.
What is more surprising? That the "mainstream" players are sticking with Baity now that the bright campaign lights are on them. Usually the establishment cuts and runs around this time. In one way, I applaud them for sticking with the nakedly hostile man who brought them to this point.
