Maggie Gallagher's work is 'sustaining civilization itself'; God can retire

In this self-victimizing word soup, Maggie Gallagher works to tell her supporters that Genesis is against gays, that all people are called to give themselves to someone of the opposite sex, that equality activists are trying to silence others, and that the work to ban same-sex marriage is actually work to "sustain civilization itself." Take it all in:

"Gay marriage advocates believe that gay men and women are being wounded, unjustly and severely, by the very existence of traditional views on sex and marriage, however kindly and thoughtfully expressed. Gay men are wounded not only in the public square but especially within the family.

Many made clear me they believe it is the great truths of Genesis themselves that are responsible for the alienation and the fear that lead gay teens to commit suicide. The only way to build a good society for these gay kids, they think, is to build a world in which they will not be exposed to such awful and cruel views—especially within their own families.

There is a core idea at issue here: that we are born male and female, that men and women are called to give ourselves to each other, and to the children our bodies make together, in love. That is the idea that must go in order to make a decent society for gay people in many of these people’s view. Nothing else. Nothing less.

No gesture of respect or attempt to reach out and love across the moral divide will do. The suppression or conversion of traditional views on sex and marriage is the precondition to creating a good and just society, in their view."

Love how Maggie warns of her side withering into a caricature. When it comes to this, a movement that's now defined by hysterical tropes, platitudes repeated ad nauseam, glaring self-victimization, vicious overstatements, deliberately couched understatements, and a sustained meme that positions gays as the adversary to just about anything that is good for society, Maggie *CREATED* the caricature!
