Audio: Maryland Marriage Alliance's aligned church: Gays live 'lifestyle of hatred towards God', are 'going to hell'; more
The Maryland Marriage Alliance has been quit cozy with Bel Air's Oak Grove Baptist Church. Just two weeks ago, the organization trying to rollback civil marriage equality in the state had a big rally on site at the church:
The church even hosts a microsite on its very server with a sole purpose of touting the Maryland Marriage Alliance campaign:
The church was also a local distribution point for the campaign's petition drive. They are undeniably cozy, these two.
So what does this major ally say about us, the actual gay humans who could have our marriage rights taken away on election day? What kind of language is this church using to rally voters against our civil rights? To what kind of rhetoric is the Maryland Marriage Alliance so proudly catering?
Well, um—this:
Gays hate God and are controlled by base desires
Gay activism scares the pastor more than terror cells
Gay teens are to reject gays; it's worse to be okay with your gayness than it is to be struggling
Satan doesn't want the pastor preaching this message
It's "perverse" to tell kids that it gets better
Homosexuality lures children into "filthy lifestyle"; prison mentality
Gays and our allies are going to hell

But hey, it's just about marriage policy for the Maryland Marriage Alliance. Right?
