National Republican Congressional Committee now accepts reality of marriage equality!
The National Republican Congressional Committee has launched a snarky smear against Sean Eldridge, a Democratic candidate who is running for the NY-19 seat that Republican Chris Gibson currently holds. And while this is an attempt to make Eldridge seem like a wealthy, out-of-touch elite rather than focus on actual issues, there is one thing I really, really, really love about the site. Namely: that the NRCC, a GOP body if there ever was one, fully acknowledges Sean's legal marriage to a man:
I'm not even joking about my affection for this. This is coming from the NRCC, a political committee with the sole focus of electing Republicans to the House of Representatives. And yet despite the House Republicans long held resistance to equal rights for LGBT people, they aren't putting the word in smear quotes or sidestepping Sean's legal marriage. Even they are coming out and acknowledging the truth: Sean Eldridge is a man who is legally married to another man.
Guess that DOMA ruling really did register. Thanks, House Republicans! Oh, and the inevitable tide of history that you all have tried so hard to stop surely thanks you as well!
