Video: Antonin Scalia's son wants gays to be chaste; doesn't care what news blogs say

by Jeremy Hooper

Paul Scalia is involved in the Catholic version of "pray away the gay"—that is no secret. As the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Courage organization, telling gays they are to live a "chaste" life seems to be his raison d'etre, at least during this season of life.

But since his dad is his dad and the idea that gay people are only built for sexless existence is as offensive as it is, it's important to keep up with what the younger Scalia is doing. That being the case, here is his hour-long presentation at the recently held Courage Conference. Unlike the other speakers (see all here), Paul doesn't really get into the nitty gritty of "freeing" gay people, talking more generally about fear of the Lord. The most pointed mentions come at around 47:30, where a fellow Courage activist addresses the scrutiny that new outlets like the Huffington Post have placed on his views about "saving" gay people (i.e. making us "chaste"), which Scalia pretty much dismisses before suggesting that he and his fellows are modern day martyrs.

Watch as much or as little as you want. But however much you watch, marvel in the "coincidence" that the United State Supreme Court justice most hostile to LGBT rights has a son who is building his profile around this life choice:
