GOP Reps thrilled to receive award from America's two most anti-LGBT organizations
Tony Perkins and Tim Wildmon are two of the most proudly and aggressively anti-LGBT figures working in American politics. Not only have they personally said some jaw-dropping things about us (see Tony quotes here; Tim quotes here), but their organizations, Family Research Council and the American Family Association, have attacked our rights at every turn. Followed to its logical extension, these men share an agenda that would see all of this nation's LGBT people closeted, at best.
But while the right side of history might be hesitant to get in bed with these men who are so obsessed with our beds, more than a few far-right members of Congress are all kinds of enthusiastic about aligning their political legacies with these special interests. Check out all of the proud tweeting that's been going on:
It's such a pretty little certificate. I'm sure it'll look amazing in the near future's Museum of Unfortunate Civil Rights History.
Although I'll have to say, I am thrilled that they chose to recognize a gay icon in their award's naming:
