More from the rabidly anti-LGBT mindset that now owns World Vision's messaging

by Jeremy Hooper

Ever since Christian charity World Vision reversed itself and told the world that discrimination against certain kinds of Christians (i.e. married, gay Christians) is perfectly okay, I've shown you several examples of anti-LGBT conservatives feeling all kinds of cocky, most of them demanding the firing of the charity's senior staff. In this latest one, anti-gay pastor Don Boys goes even one step further, equating World Vision's current incarnation as so untrustworthy that they can Don70X112~S200X200be fittingly compared to child molesters:

"Obviously [World Vision] can't be trusted. Okay, we'll forgive them. But if a child molester trusts Christ as Savior and his life is transformed – of course we forgive them," he explains. "But we don't put them in charge of a [children's] Sunday school class. You just don't do that. You've got to be realistic." [ONN]

So charming. It's always fun to start a new week with the idea that someone who recognizes the legal marriages of same-sex couples is on par with someone who performs an act as heinous as child molestation.

But as I've said repeatedly in the days since World Vision chose history's wrong and nasty side, this is now the charity's support base. This is the mindset that World Vision folks chose for their team. Had they stuck to their guns and given witness to our changing world and the need to get beyond contrived controversy, they would've found defenders in people like me. But they didn't. Instead, World Vision chose to side with the most extreme anti-LGBT voices in America.

World Vision willfully handed the keys to the future to the drivers of anti-LGBT animus. Hope they enjoy the ride.
