NOM in Oregon: We have invisible in-state members. We promise. Trust us. That's how courts work, right?
The National Organization For Marriage, which will face a hearing later this week to determine if it has any business involving itself in the District Court case that could serve to overturn the state's discriminatory marriage ban, is now claiming that it cannot reveal the Oregon residents on whose behalf they are working because those people were too scared to come forward:
The marriage group is seeking to intervene on behalf of NOM members who are a county clerk in Oregon, people involved in the wedding business and voters who approved Measure 36. In each case, though, NOM said it was unsuccessful in getting anyone to publicly attach their name to NOM's legal action because they feared reprisals. Even though these NOM members remain anonymous, the group insisted it has the right to intervene on behalf of them.

When pressed a little further, NOM spokesperson Jan Brady identified one of the members as "George Glass."
