GOP governors gaily canoodle brothers who equate homosexuality with satan; no homo
When Gov Bobby Jindal (R) and Gov. Rick Perry (R) need a lift, they turn to the Benham brothers:
These Benham brothers:
-- Bemoaned "homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation"-- Claims the Benham brothers' battle against LGBT rights is a battle against a "parallel kingdom run by Satan" that "seeks to rob kill and destroy"
-- Insists LGBT activists have an "agenda" that "seeks to capture the nation" and that is "evil, and wrong, and needs to be dealt with"
-- Suggests his fight against the LGBT "agenda" is a battle against Satan; "it's God versus the devil"
-- Says Christians must be "willing to die" in fight against marriage equality and other LGBT rights
-- Referred to America as having "spiritual AIDS," citing President Obama's support for LGBT rights as key evidence
-- Said trying to "change the biblical and historic definition of marriage is as absurd and ridiculous as trying to change the pattern of the sun" (2:40-3:04)
-- Equated fighting marriage equality with fighting Nazis: "If evil is being accepted and appreciated at the national level, aggressive Christian men must lead the charge against it. In the late 1940′s England realized this truth with Neville Chamberlain’s Policy of Appeasement and the Nazi regime. Chamberlain thought he could somehow “appease” the fuehrer, yet Winston Churchill aggressively stood against this policy and proclaimed that they must kill Hitler and destroy the regime in its entirety. It wasn’t long before Chamberlain’s “politically correct” policy fell flat on its face, and Churchill – the more aggressive man – took the reins and joined America in defeating the beast called, Naziism"
-- Equating the openly gay NFL player sexuality with heterosexual adultery, advised Michael Sam that his sexuality is "not healthy for us as individuals, or for us as a nation."
-- At City Council meeting in protest of a local pride parade, David and his twin brother referred to homosexuality as "destructive" and a "tragedy;" asserted that Jesus "refuses to leave [homosexuals] that way;"and Jason concluded by telling the council to "deny them every permit they ask for"?
-- On company website, describes transgender woman as a "tragedy": "Does Jesus love Robert? Absolutely. Does he love Roberts behavior? Absolutely not. Does Jesus love the political agenda behind Roberts behavior? Not a chance. It’s tough for Robert to experience the true love of the Father when a nation not only accepts but appreciates his twisted behavior. This is a tragedy, and I grow more weary every day with the harsh reality that darkness rules the day when Light is hidden under a bushel (a comfortable bushel called the American church)."
-- While protesting a school as part of an anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-Islam picket, criticized pro-LGBT students who pushed back: Operation Save America leader David Benham said he's proud of the students for speaking up, but he disagrees with the students' message of tolerance."As the morals degrade and degenerate and go down, tolerance stands by and says, 'Hmm, let it happen, as long as I'm OK.' And that's the opposite of Biblical love," he said.
-- Joined a coalition (including his father) who spoke at the Charlotte City Council meeting in protest of the local pride parade
-- Says: "If you want to end [abortion and the homosexual agenda], elect Muslims. Sharia law will surely take care of both of those issues. But we are not here to simply destroy those issues—we are here to bring another kingdom whose king is Jesus Christ. And conversions are what truly change the land"
-- Says marriage equality “erodes the moral fabric of our society” and “threaten[s] future generations,” which he coupled with the claim that "death is the punishment for homosexual sin"
-- Says: "The homosexual agenda is next, tolerance towards radical Islam is next, we’re going to start taking these Goliaths down, we’re not afraid anymore...'Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities, rulers and authorities of darkness.’ We love these people and so we are not going to allow the demonic forces and agendas behind them to destroy life."
-- On gay men: "You’ll never find the love of a father in the arms of another man. The emotional hurt that you’ve experienced can only be healed through a life-giving relationship with the very one that created you. You are a precious gift of God. I encourage fellow North Carolinians to love and embrace you as a person. Redefining an eternal principle will not heal the hurt you’ve experienced, only correctly relating to the one that created the principle will."
-- Joined colleagues (his father, Coalition of Conscience fellow Michael Brown, etc) at a local school board meeting where he spoke in opposition to an anti-bullying policy that included sexual orientation protections
-- Has referred to Muslims as "the enemy attacking" America
-- From his company website: "With respect to marriage, do we vacillate on gay marriage because the two love each other? Never. Marriage is the sacred institution of God. It is so sacred we should not as Christians accept divorce except in the cases the Scriptures mention."
-- Protested Charlotte, NC, LGBT pride parade; provided custom water bottles for "God Has A Better Way" protestors to pass out at pride parades
David Benham [GLAAD CAP]
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see GOP leaders making them official RNC outreach directors. Not only do leaders on that side seem unconcerned with their young person alienation—they appear to be courting it!
