Veteran Tony Perkins shows shocking disrespect for war and its human toll

by Jeremy Hooper

Wes Modder's job is on the line after Naval Nuclear Power Training Command students complained about the chaplain's insistence that a student who had premarital sex was “shaming herself in the eyes of God” and his contention that he can “save” gay people, to name just two of his alleged offenses. Which, in the glib-for-the-sake-of-political-expediency world of Tony Perkins, means Modder is "under some of the heaviest fire" of anyone serving in our armed forces:

Screen Shot 2015-03-18 At 6.13.14 Pm In the Navy, it's full-steam ahead on censorship! Hi, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. If you think chaplains have some of the safest jobs in the military, think again. Men of the cloth are under some of the heaviest fire -- and it's coming from their own side! For years, Chaplain Wes Modder had served some of the most elite fighting forces in the military. I say "had," because the Chaplain's been stripped of his duties for his Christian views. He was sunk by his own assistant, who secretly documented his biblical beliefs on sexuality. In December, Chaplain Modder was served with a five-page complaint for "discrimination" and relieved of his duties. Unfortunately, this is what happens under the President's radical social policies for the military. When even Chaplains can't talk about the tenets of their faith, why bother having them at all? Take a stand. Visit FRC.org today and sign our petition for Chaplain Modder-and every service member who deserves the right to exercise the freedom they're defending!

I'm pretty sure that facing employment decisions because of your own chosen conduct that flies in the face of proper military protocol is nowhere near the ballpark where actual mortal soldiers face actual mortal threats involving guns and grenades and bodies that bleed. And how grossly disrespectful to suggest that it does!

But of course Tony has a persecution complex to work and a losing "culture war" to try to salvage. Frankly, at this stage of the game, it's a constant question of when the FRC president will next resort to framing his political opposition as some sort of anti-American enemy, not if.
