FRC leads supporters into 'spiritual warfare' against 'doctrines of the devil,' 'hosts of hell' (i.e. married gay people)

by Jeremy Hooper

The Family Research Council is currently living out twenty-one days of prayer and fasting in hopes of stopping civil marriage equality at the US Supreme Court. As you can see from day two's prayer call, the SPLC-designated hate group isn't even trying to hide just how hostile they are toward us, our marriages, and our equal rights, or the negligent war language and devil language they will use to convince our fellow citizens that we are an evil that must be stopped:

Screen Shot 2015-04-08 At 7.38.13 Pm First: focus on magnifying God, the Lord of Hosts (KJV; Jehovah of Hosts, ASV; Lord of Heaven’s Armies, NLV), for He is with us (meditate on Ps 46). Let us acknowledge Him!

Second, take a little time to read and build up your faith in Him for spiritual warfare. Read about Jehoshaphat’s victory over the Moabites and Elisha’s asking God “to open his servant’s eyes, that he may see” the Heavenly Armies – “horses and chariots of fire” – there were many more, and more powerful forces with Israel than with the Syrians! Our victory comes from trusting Him!

Third, recognize that we are not alone – 1) There is a host of believers on the ground, among them thousands of dedicated intercessors and prayer warriors throughout the U.S. and around the world are praying together for our cause: the preservation of natural, Biblical marriage in our land, and for continued liberty among Christians and others both to believe and practice their faith under God as we are guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. 2) Behind this host on the ground, there is an innumerable host in heaven, eager and ready to respond to our need and our cries.

Fourth, Yet God has called us to wrestle knowing we have heavenly assistance. We wrestle in His strength. Our enemies are not flesh and blood, but “principalities and powers” in the spiritual realm (Eph 3:10 and 6:12). These are powerful spirits that influence and drive men to do evil (“doctrines of devils”); and where the very idea of same-sex marriage emerged (see Jude 1:3-25). God is our Strength and our Refuge! He has a stake in the emblem of Christ and His church on earth, the holy institution of marriage that He created. He will fight for Christ’s sake and ours, just as he did for Jehoshaphat, Elisha and millions more (see Rev 12:11). May we emulate the “Heroes of Faith” in Heb 11! All of them kept their eyes on God and believed his promises against all the hosts of hell arrayed against them.

FULL: Day #2: April 8, 2015: 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting for Marriage & for the U.S. Supreme Court [Family Research Council]

(**UPDATE: After doing these for eight disastrous days, FRC scrubbed all of these prayers from its site. More on that here. Find screen cap of the scrubbed post below)

Wow, my husband and I have been "doing evil" for twelve years now, and not even one visit from Satan. We do have love that grows each year, a solid foundation, deep family ties, priceless memories, a bond whose strength I would test against any other couple, security, warmth, dedication, commitment, great sex, full state and federal marriage rights, and a daughter who just happens to be the most gorgeous and brilliant little girl that has ever walked this earth. But no Satan house calls. He must be busy in Massachusetts or something.

Now if you'll excuse me, I must go do more evil. Tonight it's pizza. And Family Researchers, if you could do me a favor and keep the "spiritual warfare" you're waging against my house at a dull roar, that'd be cool, too. My kid is going through some teething stuff and she could really use a good night's sleep. Thanks, peaches.
