Latest wrong-side-of-history SCOTUS brief: Marriage equality ruling 'could exceed the disastrous consequences of Dred Scott'
If you've noticed an uptick in references to the infamous Dred Scott case in recent months, it's because the anti-gay movement has convinced itself that linking an ignoble ruling that allowed for the ownership of human beings who were branded and sold as slaves to a potential ruling that will finally grant full marriage parity to same-sex couples in all fifty states is a good, rather than monumentally obtuse, thing for them to do at this late and (most) high profile hour in the debate. Here's the latest such reference from yet another anti-gay amicus brief, this one courtesy of longtime anti-LGBT activist Dr. Judith Reisman:
Wow, and this time we get linkage to the sterilization of "undesirables" as well? That's a new and novel one, Ms. Reisman! You must really want to help your side lose.
It's unclear if most of these militant activists and activist groups truly believe there are key similarities between brutally dehumanizing rulings and one that would grant a benign and deserved civil right to a minority population and their families, or if they are just saying it because they are political game players who want to win at any cost. It's also unclear which is worse.
